Getting to know Katrien and Adriaan

Katrien and Adriaan were both lawyers in South Africa for many years. In search of new adventures and with the desire to establish themselves in Europe, they began looking for their next project. It was after falling in love with the Dordogne region, the serenity it brings, its charm and its return to nature that their B&B project began to take shape.

“When we’re on holiday, we like to feel as if we’re staying at home. Our aim is to provide accommodation that offers this feeling.”

It was in 2022 that Katrien and Adriaan were truly charmed by the building that today houses the Perle de Domme. It stands on a historic site in the middle of the woods, on the outskirts of the picturesque medieval village of Domme, and boasts numerous panoramic views.

The property is made up of a main manor house and a number of cottages that blend in perfectly with the scenery of the region and house modern, tastefully decorated holiday flats with top-of-the-range facilities. This flat rental formula allows guests to be self-sufficient, while still enjoying the services of the hotel, a delicious breakfast (do you prefer it served in bed?), access to moments of relaxation in the spa and swimming pool, and cosy evenings on the panoramic terrace of the wine bar. And that’s not all… There are plenty of attractions around La Perle de Domme. Fancy exploring on an electric scooter? Set off on an adventure and explore the historic villages, majestic châteaux and picturesque landscapes of the region!

When Katrien and Adriaan are asked what their favourite thing about staying at their own holiday home is, their answer is full of simplicity: “It’s the peace and serenity of sitting in the garden in the shade of a tree, looking out over the region, listening to the birds sing, reading a book“.
